Our Apiary
Rainbow’s End Apiary began with a simple curiosity about bees and a love for the natural world. What started as a moment of jumping into the unknown and rescuing an abandoned hive quickly became a family passion as we learned just how remarkable honeybees truly are. Our 2 original partners, Jeff and Jillian are a Father In-law/ Daughter In-law duo. Jeff had just retired and was looking for a new hobby. Jillian had a passionate interest in homesteading and sustainable living. They started taking classes together and the rest is history! They work hard volunteering and giving back to the community. Jeff is the President of the Madison County Beekeeper's Association and Jillian is the Vice President. These partners in crime also manage the colonies at the Huntsville Botanical Gardens. Today, our small apiary in North Alabama cares for thriving colonies that forage across local farms and wildflower meadows. Every jar of honey we harvest reflects the seasons, the land, and the dedication we put into caring for our bees. Along the way, we’ve found joy not only in harvesting honey, but in sharing the craft of beekeeping with others through education, mentorship, and stewardship.
Our
Beekeepers
Jillian, the owner of the company, is a Journeyman in the Alabama Master Beekeepers. When this homeschooling mom's not working with the hives, you’ll often find her climbing or hiking through the forests and mountains, exploring the same wild places that inspire her commitment to preserving nature. History, world cultures, sustainable living, ecology, and adventure are at her core. She feels incredibly fortunate to spend her days working alongside these remarkable insects & her family.
Jeff is a Journeyman in the Alabama Master Beekeeper's Program, as well as an Alabama Master Gardener. A believer in citizen science, he has thrown himself into his beekeeping education, focusing on the hard science of Integrated Pest Management to ensure our bees are as healthy as can be. He always felt that if beekeeping was good enough for Sherlock Holmes in his retirement, then it's good enough for him! Jeff is the current President of the Madison County Beekeeper's Association.
Matthew is a part-time beekeeper who has overcome a lifelong fear of stinging insects to help out with the hives. When this father of 3 isn't in the bee yard, he can be found climbing the nearest crag, catching local Grateful Dead cover bands, or cooking something tasty. Matthew feels that the best days are those spent outside with your toes in the dirt, and surrounded by family & friends.
Briar is a part-time beekeeper. They are currently majoring in Biology with an Ecology Field Work focus. They spend their days hiking through the woods, cataloging plants, moss, and fungi they find. When they aren't covered in dirt, they are covered in paint as they are also an accomplished artist & illustrator! Like their parents, they are an avid climber, whether in the gym or in the wilderness.

Meet Our Hive
There are three generations working this apiary and we couldn't do it without each other's love and support! We consider ourselves lucky beyond measure to be able to take this path together and sometimes this life really does feel like the gold at the end of the rainbow!
